Boat race!

On Friday 25^th May Year 5 had a boat race!  We've been thinking a lot about exploration with boats - especially as we have been studying Tudor explorers this half-term. Our objective was to create speedy boats which had a jubilee theme.  Many people chose to paint union jacks on their boats or on the sails.  We were lucky to have a sunny day with a breeze to help the boats on their way!

Sikh trip

On Wednesday 16^th May Year 5 visited the central Gurdwara in Shepherds Bush to learn more about Sikhism.  We had many questions to ask – including ‘when was Sikhism founded’ and ‘why don’t Sikhs cut their hair?’ We found out that Sikhism started around 1469 when Guru Nanak was born and that Sikhs don’t cut their hair as they believe it is a gift from god.  After our question and answer session we ate a delicious vegetarian lunch in the langar.
